Talaysay Campo, Tour Guide Company Owner

Talaysay Campo – Biography

Co-Owner, Talaysay Tours | Founder, THEDA x NENA | Creator, Love The Land Apparel

My name is Talaysay Campo. I’m from the shíshálh (Sechelt) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nations, and I was raised in a traditional household that values land, culture, and community. My journey as an entrepreneur and cultural educator began when I was a young girl, living on the Sechelt Nation and working alongside my mother, Candace Campo, in Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. That is where we first began guiding visitors through the lands and stories of our ancestors through our family business: Talaysay Tours.

Our tours were more than just nature walks—they were cultural immersions, land-based teachings, and spaces for dialogue and reconciliation. As our vision grew, so did our reach. We expanded Talaysay Tours to Vancouver, where I eventually took over operations and helped develop new programming in Whistler and Squamish, continuing to share the cultural richness of the territories we call home.

Living in my father's traditional territory in Squamish further grounded me in our teachings and responsibilities. It was during this time that I pursued formal education at the UBC Sauder School of Business, combining Indigenous knowledge systems with business acumen. I also studied ethnobotany and cultural land-based training, which deepened my understanding of plant medicine and helped shape my next ventures.

In 2021, I launched Love The Land Apparel, a clothing line that shares our stories, languages, and land teachings through fashion and design. Each collection—from “We Are the Land” to “Sacred Water” and “Every Child Matters”—is a visual expression of our identity, resilience, and love for our people and the land.

In 2023, I expanded my work into the wellness space by launching THEDA x NENA, an Indigenous-owned skincare line rooted in ancestral medicine and dedicated to the matriarchs in our families. Both brands reflect my commitment to culture revitalization, land-based learning, and Indigenous self-determination.

Today, I continue to co-own and lead Talaysay Tours, ensuring that our tours educate, empower, and inspire. Whether it’s walking through ancient forests, sharing stories passed down for generations, or creating fashion and skincare rooted in culture, my work is all about revitalizing Indigenous knowledge, supporting the next generation, and inviting people to connect with the land in a meaningful way.
