Amanda Chaval, Pianist/ Mezzo-Soprano/ Music Teacher

Amanda is a mezzo-soprano, pianist and a music teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (piano & voice), Theatre and Creative Writing & Journalism from Bishop’s University. Amanda has her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. She is also fluent in French.

Amanda has performed as a singer with the Sherbrooke Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria and studied voice at the Canadian Opera Company. Amanda was the Music Teacher at Mentor College in Toronto and her choirs won first place in the Peel Music Festival. Amanda has also taught grade one at a private school in Taiwan.

Amanda grew up in many different Canadian provinces and abroad, because her Dad was a diplomat. She has lived in Ottawa, Sherbrooke, Victoria, Thunder Bay, Mississauga and spent her childhood in Brussels, Belgium. This gave Amanda the travel bug and she continues to explore our beautiful world as much as she can.

Amanda currently lives in Victoria, B.C., with her husband, Kevin. She runs her own music studio with 20 private piano and voice students. Amanda is the Choir Director and Drama Teacher at Glenlyon Norfolk School. She is the President of the Vancouver Island Chamber Choir and sings with Pacific Opera Victoria. Amanda loves being outside, hiking and biking. She also enjoys crafts, baking, reading, writing, movies and being with friends. Her favorite holiday is Christmas and she waits for it all year. Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series. She especially likes the quote by Dumbledore, “it is our choices that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
