Dr Michelle Bomberry, Manager of Indigenous Health
Michelle prides herself for being a mother, an active community member, and an advocate for First Nations people. Michelle has spent much of her life volunteering with many community groups both in rural and urban settings. She has taken on roles such as fundraising, coordinating events, policy review and mentorship.
Career wise, Michelle recently assumed the role as Indigenous Health Service Manager with Brant Community Healthcare System. Prior to working at BCHS, she was an Elected Councillor for Six Nations of the Grand River as well as worked at instructing at Six Nations Polytechnic and Mohawk College. Prior to her new political role, she was the Director of Post-Secondary Education with Indspire where she was responsible for disbursing 15-million dollars to thousands of indigenous students across Canada. Michelle’s career is a vast, she has worked in healthcare, education and policing. She worked with Six Nations Police, where she led the Community Service team coordinating programs and events, mentoring young people and their families; and engaged in collaborative research. Michelle enjoys learning and sharing her knowledge.
Adding to her busy career and volunteerism, Michelle recently defended her Ph.D. in Education at Brock University. Her focus was Earth-based learning and strengthening Ogweho:weh epistemologies.
